BJP plans Shah meet on Sept 17
Hyderabad: In a bid to give a major push to party activities in Telangana, the state BJP is organizing a public meeting to be addressed by party chief and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Hyderabad on the occasion of Telangana Liberation Day on September 17.
It may be mentioned here that the BJP is training its guns against TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao for not delivering on his promise to officially celebrate the Telangana Liberation Day.
The party, which is using every little opportunity to corner the TRS and highlighting its proximity with the AIMIM, hopes to bring political dividends to the saffron party with Shah meeting.
According to party sources, the State BJP chief Laxman had in-person met Shah inviting him to take part in the public meeting.
The party sources said, "Initially, Nizamabad and Hyderabad were proposed for organizing the public meetings of Amit Shah on September 17. However, it was now decided to organise the public meeting only in Hyderabad."
The party has already decided to unfurl the Tricolour across the State on September 17, besides taking out rallies as a mark of respect to the martyrs laid down their lives in their fight against the Nizam's rule for integrating Hyderabad with the Indian Union.
The State party chief during his recent visit to Delhi had also briefed Shah on the programmes chalked out by a committee constituted to celebrate the September 17.
"Shah had responded positively to attend the meeting on the occasion of the Telangana Liberation Day. But we wait for the confirmation of the schedule of the party chief," said a BJP State executive member.
