BJP questions relevance of Congress

Update: 2019-08-11 01:11 IST

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP chief spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao on Saturday said Indians residing within the country and outside are increasingly asking whether the Congress party is relevant for today.

The BJP leader said here that the stand taken by the Congress on the abrogation of Article 370 is giving rise to several questions in the minds of the people. The Congress and Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should give an answer to these questions bothering people, he said.

He wondered whether the Congress was voicing the concerns of the people. "Is the Congress party stand to protect the integrity and sovereignty of India and the welfare and development of Jammu and Kashmir? Or, is it advocating the line of Pakistan and China," he asked?

He said the BJP which was voted to power by majority of people of the country has strong leadership at the helm and it is trying to correct the historical mistakes committed in the past by abrogating Article 370.

This was done through an institutional, Constitutional and legal process. Then, why is it paining the Congress so much, why the Congress is so intolerant, so rattled and spewing venom in Parliament against the Bills to abrogate Article 370 and re-organisation of J&K? Does it want to make the country's Constitutional process into a bilateral and trilateral and international issue, he questioned.

Krishna Saagar Rao asked the Congress party "Why the Grand Old Party has taken a stand against India and her people of Jammu and Kashmir and Leh Ladakh?

Also, why Congress is trying to become a platform for Pakistan and China right on the floor of Parliament.

"One can understand if Pakistan or China raises the issue. But, why are you (Congress) acting as if an advocate to Pakistan and China acting as a platform for them right in Parliament," he asked.

He said the Congress and Gandhi-Nehru family owed to the people of the country to answer all these questions.

The BJP leader said the Congress leaders from the old school like Karan Singh, Janardhan Dwivedi and young leaders like Milind Deora, Jyotiraditya Scindia have been supporting the abrogation of Article 370.
