BJP raises demand for taking up of NRC in Telangana State
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana State on Saturday demanded taking up of National Register for Citizens (NRC) process in the State. It will formally make a request to Union Home Minister Amit Shah in this regard.
Party State chief spokesperson K Krishna Saagar Rao on Saturday said there is a steady growth of illegal immigrants in the State in general and Hyderabad in specific in the guise of refugees and the official numbers are quite contrary to the actual numbers on the ground.
Further, this trend is growing and illegal immigrants are moving into Telangana State from many borderline states, finding the local environment conducive for their survival. Telangana State government in political connivance with AIMIM is looking the other way though it has full knowledge of this dangerous trend.
He said so far the State police identified over 5,000 illegal Rohingyas, but the real numbers seem to be in lakhs. Further, he alleged that the illegals are being used by AIMIM in variety of ways apart from using them as illegal voters during elections.
It was against this backdrop that the party considers them illegal immigrants issue as a 'ticking time bomb' and can have very dangerous consequences for communal harmony, peace and stable law and order in the State.
Rao said the core purpose of the NRC initiative is to prevent illegal immigrants to become citizens of India fraudulently. It should be implemented in TS in the larger interest of the State and the nation, he said.
