BJP sees no wrong in … Chowkidar drive

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit chief official spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said the 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' campaign of the party reflects what is recognised in the constitution and the legal framework of the country.

Addressing media here on Tuesday, he said Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi's remarks that unlike the rich people, farmers, poor and middle class cannot afford to have 'chowkidars' (guards) is laughable and reflects their ignorance. Heirs of the Gandhi-Nehru family need to go back to school to study the basics of how people are made stakeholders in the country's governance because every citizen serves the nation in his own capacity as the guardian of the democracy, he said.

"This is what Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP's campaign 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' reflects and what is wrong in it," he questioned. That apart, the BJP leader demanded TRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao tender an unconditional apology for using abusive language against the Prime Minister during his Karimnagar public meeting.

He alleged that the State government is bankrupt and not able to clear the pending payments to the teachers, farmers, contract workers. "Telangana has been pushed into a debt trap during the five years of the TRS government," he said.

The party which has failed in the State is claiming to pass elsewhere by launching a national party, he criticised. Krishna Saagar Rao also took objection to TRS working president KT Rama Rao reportedly asking people to cast their votes by seeing the name and face of his father, but, not the candidates, which is unheard of in a democracy, he pointed out.

He claimed that BJP, which has a single MP from the State, has brought several developmental works and projects to the State. If the party is given 16 Lok Sabha seats, it will help in giving a fillip to the fast-paced development works in Telangana. He appealed to people to see through the rhetoric of falsehoods of the TRS and its chief and give BJP an opportunity in the ensuing parliament elections.
