Karimnagar: Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to disturb law and order in view of the coming up Greater Hyderabad Municipal elections and as part of it, the BJP leaders were blaming the ruling TRS government for nothing, alleged City Mayor Yadagiri Sunil Rao.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, the Mayor came heavily on the BJP and criticised its State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, saying that the Karimnagar MP was forgetting his own stature in politics and using words of abuse against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. BJP won Dubbaka by-polls by spreading lies and using fake news and is daydreaming of winning 100 seats in the GHMC elections.

The BJP State president had staged drama when he was not even arrested by the police in Siddipet and confined himself at his MP camp office, he alleged.

The Mayor said that Hyderabad has attained international recognition only during the TRS regime under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR and IT Minister KT Rama Rao, who ensured overall progress and development of the city.

Sunil Rao welcomed the decision taken by the State government about waiving of house tax in view of the outbreak of Covid-19 and said that under Karimnagar Municipal Corporation limits, about house tax of about Rs 19 crore was collected out of Rs 30.05 crore.

But as per the government orders, 50 per cent exemption that is Rs 9.5 crore will be returned to those.
