BJP wants special cell to probe terror activity in city
Hyderabad: Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday alleged the NIA searches in the city showed there was a "rise in terror activities' and demanded that the TRS government form a special cell to probe it.
He was referring to the searches by the National Investigation Agency searches at three places here and Wardha of Maharashtra on Saturday in connection with an ISIS module case and detention of four suspects for questioning.
The Secunderabad MP claimed the NIA probe revealed that 'Hyderabad is a safe haven for Islamic terrorist activities.'
"Now the recent NIA probe has revealed that Islamic terrorist activities have increased in Hyderabad and a large number of youths are recruited from there," he told reporters here.
He demanded that the special cell under the supervision of a Director General or Inspector General-level rank officer take up probe into such activities.
Dattatreya also demanded that the State government keep a watch in and around Hyderabad and the districts of Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Adilabad and Karimnagar, where he alleged, such activities were prevalent.
He slammed AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for remaining silent over the matter and said he only criticises the BJP
Former BJP State president G Kishan Reddy said the arrest of three persons from Hyderabad and a woman from Wardha in Maharashtra by the NIA had once again demonstrated the fact that certain youth of Hyderabad and of specific areas in the State had been the target of International terror groups more, particularly the ISIS.
However, it was unfortunate that the government despite prior inputs from the intelligence agencies was able to understand the gravity of the situation, he said.
