Warangal: BJP will celebrate Liberation Day officially
Warangal: The TRS government made a huge mistake by not celebrating Telangana Liberation Day officially, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Warangal Urban president Rao Padma said. Speaking after hoisting the national flag in commemoration of Telangana Liberation Day here on Tuesday, she said that BJP would make it an official celebration after it assumes power.
Even though the Liberation Day is celebrated officially in Maharashtra and Karnataka, the successive governments in combined Andhra Pradesh cutting across party lines remained silent for the last seven decades, she said.
"People in the State owe a lot to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, because of whom Telangana was liberated from the tyrannic rule of Nizam that extended to 13 months even after Indian independence," Padma said. While the other parts of the then Hyderabad State - Maharashtra and Karnataka – are celebrating the Liberation Day officially, the TRS government headed by K Chandrashekar Rao is yet to make it official, she said. The TRS government is scared of MIM or else it would have celebrated it officially, Padma said, recalling KCR's demand for celebrating Liberation Day during the statehood movement.
Earlier, former MLA M Dharma Rao, former Minister Gunde Vijayarama Rao and other leaders paid tributes to Telangana martyrs at Adalath Centre. Later, the BJP workers took out a bike rally in the city.
Senior leaders Kondeti Sridhar, Dr Vijayalaxmi, V Sammi Reddy, Chada Srinivas Reddy, G Yadaii, S Jagadeeshwar, P Rajendra Prasad, M Suresh, M Vinod, M Narender, Ch Narsing Goud, G Anil, J Narsinga Rao, K Santhosh Reddy, P Ashok, Ravula Kishan and N Nirmala were among others present.
