BJP's victory historical: Muralidhar Rao

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao said the saffron party's victory for the second consecutive term is a historical one.

Addressing a victory meeting held at the party State headquarters here on Friday, he said that no leader or party could win a mandate to form the government at the Centre on its own after 1971.

Breaking the earlier Congress record, the BJP has registered a historical win.

He said another important aspect is that no party in 130 democratic countries in the world could come back to power after implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

But, the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the only exception.

"What is heartening in the victory is people cutting across classes, States have supported the BJP resulting in the saffron party gaining huge percentages of vote share in States like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh etc.," he said.

The false narratives, formulas and alternative plans purported by the opposition parties and the smear campaign unleashed against Narendra Modi and the BJP have fallen flat as people outrightly rejected the claims of the opposition parties, he said.

Terming that Delhi is now free from 'Chandragrahanams' from two Telugu States, indirectly referring to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, the BJP leader said, "one Chandrudu is finding it difficult to even find breathing space."

However, the TDP's defeat provides a golden opportunity for the BJP to grow as an alternative to the current ruling party to play the role of a constructive opposition.

Similarly, he asked TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to take lessons from the resounding victory of the BJP across the country.

Taking a dig at KCR's federal front, he said, "some tried to go to different States to meet leaders of different parties on a wooden horse to establish a federal front, but people have shown what they want." He asked K Chandrashekar Rao to forget about Delhi and try to figure out and understand the people's verdict.

He said Congress can only play fixed games and fixed matches, but it has no strength to fight against the ruling TRS in the State.

He thanked people of Telangana for giving the party a small opportunity by giving four MP seats in the State.

"We are going to transform the small opportunity into a big one continuing our fight against the undemocratic and anti-people policies of the TRS," he added.

State president Dr K Laxman said that the four-seat victory of the party is only a beginning for a long drawn fight against the anti-people's rule of TRS in Telangana.
