Hyderabad: Monday turned out to be a sort of a big day of mela as the gates of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's official residence Pragathi Bhavan were thrown open for party leaders and officials so that they could meet the Chief Minister and greet him on his 66th birthday.

President of India Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AP Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu and Governor of Telangana Tamilisai Soundararajan conveyed their wishes to KCR either through tweet or over phone.

Since morning there was a flood of visitors at Pragathi Bhavan which has created huge inconvenience to the commuters on the busy road as the vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt till late in the evening.

Unable to control the crowd, police closed the entry of the Bhavan and struggled hard to clear the traffic jam.

The police said that the TRS party leaders, workers and KCR's followers thronged the Pragathi Bhavan since morning though the Chief Minister fixed his time to meet the visitors up to 1.30 pm only.

Visitors were forced to wait at the Janahita Hall in the Bhavan and a huge crowd were also seen standing on the road to have a glimpse of KCR.

Even before the police plunged into action, most of the visitors parked their vehicles on the sides of the main road in front of the Pragathi Bhavan which led to huge traffic jam.

On a call given by the TRS asking the party rank and file to plant a sapling to mark the birthday of KCR, IT Minister and party working president KT Rama Rao along with all his family members, including K Kavitha planted a sapling at the camp office.

Several programmes like blood donation camp, distribution of tricycles, fruits and food were taken up across the state. Several organisations also took up Haritha Haram project in their office premises.
