Narayanpet: District Collector S Venkat Rao and Narayanpet MLA Rajender Reddy inaugurated a blood bank at the Narayanpet District General Hospital on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the government has sanctioned Rs 75 lakh for the setting up of a blood bank in the district. "It is a great day for the people of Narayanpet. Earlier, during emergencies, the people from Narayanpet had to go faraway places such as Mahbubnagar and even Hyderabad to get blood for the patients. With the setting up of a new blood bank, all those problems are now resolved and the patients can now get easy access to blood from this blood bank," said the Collector.

The Collector said that at present, they have set up the blood bank with basic facilities where they can procure and store the blood. However, in the coming up days, they would further improve the facilities in this centre and ensure that the blood components also can be derived from the stocked blood and provide it to the patients. "During the breakout of epidemics like dengue, we need blood platelets. We also need advanced equipment in the blood bank to derive blood platelets, plasma and other components which could be used for different patients. In the coming up days, we will further improve the facilities at this blood bank and provide better services to the people of this region through this blood bank," assured the Collector.

Zilla Parishad Chairman of Narayanpet Vanaja, along with district health officials and other staff members of the government district hospital took part in the programme.
