BRKR Bhavan to be high-security zone
Hyderabad: The BRKR Bhavan, which is set to become the temporary Secretariat until the government demolishes and constructs a new one in the existing premises, and its surroundings will be made a high-security zone.
The police department is studying different aspects to ensure fool-proof security at complex and at the same time regulating vehicular movement and hassle-free parking.
The SPF (Special Protection Force), ISW (Intelligence Security Wing), Law and Order and Traffic wings are working in tandem to come out with a common report on security which will be submitted to the government shortly.
Teams from different police wings are on the job and inspected every nook and corner in BRKR Bhavan and the surrounding areas.
It may be mentioned here that senior officials in the government consulted the Police department on security at the BRKR Bhavan and its surroundings.
In view of VVIP and VIP movement, three main roads in front of the BRKR Bhavan are likely to be closed for general vehicular traffic.
Motorists coming from Himayat Nagar and Basheerbagh take the road stretch in front of the BRKR Bhavan to proceed to Khairatabad and Lakdikapul and the Traffic department is likely to suggest an alternative route for them.
The police are likely to set up barricades at several points, including GHMC side gate, near Kalanjali, MLA Quarters, Hope Hospital surroundings to regulate the traffic.
Barricades will also be put up to regulate traffic coming from the Telugu Talli Flyover road towards the BRKR Bhavan. Also, the BRKR Bhavan is not as spacious as the existing Secretariat that has ample parking space at every block.
Hence, authorities are likely to suggest using the surrounding MLA Quarters complex as an additional parking zone, especially for visitors and others visiting the Secretariat.
Dossier files
Special emphasis is being laid on storing the key dossier files that contain detailed information about subjects and persons, including bureaucrats. At present, these are stored in the 6th floor of C-Block under the supervision of Chief Secretary.
While existing offices in the BRKR Bhavan are being moved to other locations, the Data Centre on the 4th floor is likely to stay put.
It is learnt that senior officials are in favour of utilizing this facility for issuing of GOs, day to day administration and for running of applications of different departments.
