Buddhism brings peace to the world: Minister Jagadish Reddy
Hyderabad: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Sunday wished that Buddhism bring peace to the world. Addressing the valedictory function of Telangana Bouddha Sangiti – 2019, he said that there are several familiarities in the Telangana society and Buddhism unknowingly.
Recollecting his childhood memories of visiting Phanigiri Hills, which has Buddhist structures, he said that he was interested in knowing the details of those structures and sculptures.
He congratulated Buddha Vanam Project special officer M Laxmaiah for his efforts in protecting the Buddhist structures. He has announced that the State government would support to create replicas of the sculptures which are being excavated from Phanigiri, Vardhamankota and other villages.
Laxmaiah expressed happiness over the deliberations being taken place over last two days about the development of Buddhist heritage, history, and archaeology.
He appreciated the encouragement given by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao towards the development of Buddha Vanam project.
He requested to form a coordination committee including different archaeologists for developing Buddhism. The Minister launched the official website for Buddhavanam Project www.buddhavanam.in on this occasion. He also launched the book "Telangana Buddhist heritage."
