Centre to visit Hyderabad tomorrow as coronavirus cases rise in Telangana

A central team led by joint secretary of Union Health ministry, Lav Agarwal will visit Hyderabad tomorrow
As Telangana is witnessing a spike in coronavirus cases for the last three weeks, a central team led by joint secretary of Union Health ministry, Lav Agarwal will visit Hyderabad tomorrow.

The central team will interact with the officials of health department and discuss the measures to be implemented in controlling coronavirus in the state. The team will also instruct the officials on improving the coordination and strengthen the efforts of the government in tackling COVID-19.

Besides, the team will inspect the coronavirus testing laboratories and containment clusters. It is learned that the team will inspect the containment zones in Hyderabad from 7 am to 9 am on Monday and later on hold discussions with the state chief secretary Somesh Kumar and health officials at BRK Bhavan.

In the evening, the team will visit Gandhi Hospital and Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS).

In the first, Telangana was criticized for its low number testing and now, for a spike in the coronavirus cases. The state on Saturday reported 1,087 cases including 888 cases in GHMC, 74 in Rangareddy district and 37 in Medchal. A total of 3,923 samples were tested on Saturday of which 2,836 were negative while 1,087 came positive.
