Centre urged to act on transfer proposal of TS HC Chief Justice
The Chief Justice of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi urged the Union government to act on the transfer proposal of Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Justice T B Radhakrishnan. It may be recalled that a resolution was passed in January to transfer Justice Radhakrishnan to the Calcutta High Court subsequent to the retirement of former Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court Justice D K Gupta on December 31 last year.
It may also be recalled that the Union government initially sent back the recommendation made by the collegium for its reconsideration. However, on February 19 the collegium has reiterated the proposal and found that there is nothing new being brought to their notice regarding the transfer proposal. It is believed that the CJI has written a letter to the Union government on March 11 reiterating the transfer proposal and to take an expeditious decision on the same as the CJ of Calcutta High Court is lying vacant since January 1.
