CGG gives short shrift to TSBIE

Hyderabad: Fearing that its image may be at stake, the Centre for Good Governance (CGG) declined the request by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) to take up the task of online admission of students in Intermediate courses.

According to sources, the TSBIE earlier this week had decided to handover the online admission process to the CGG.

The decision was taken by a committee formed to identify an agency to handle the online admissions into the government and private junior colleges in the State.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official of the TSBIE said, "The decision was taken in the aftermath of the intermediate results fiasco and the allegations against the Globarena technologies for not able to handle a similar process during the academic year 2018-29," he said.

The committee formed to identify the agency had studied the report of the three-member committee appointed by the State government and the observations made by it.

"The committee had asked the TSBIE to assign the process of online admission to the CGG as it had earlier helped the TSBIE when the Globarena technologies had failed to handle the process.

Subsequently, the TSBIE had communicated to the CGG, requesting it to take up the task for this academic year," the official said.

But, the CGG officials, in turn, told to the TSBIE that it was not in a position to help it this time as its human resources had already been deployed to handle other important and ongoing projects.

The CGG senior officials had politely declined the request made to them by the TSBIE. They were afraid of taking up any new assignment in the near future in the TSBIE against the backdrop of the intermediate results fiasco.

Because "even simple technical glitches which might crop up while rolling out the online admission process would bring a bad name to it. Further, the TSBIE request had come to it almost after a week of commencement of the academic year.

So, for the current academic year the CGG does not want to take up any online processes of the TSBIE, the sources said.

Following the CGG saying no to its request, now, the TSBIE committee appointed for the identification of a suitable agency is likely to meet on Tuesday or Wednesday to discuss the issue and to decide the future course of action.
