Chakka Jaam: Protestors block highway at Hyderabad outskirts
Protesting against the centres' new farm laws, farmers unions and political leaders blocked the roads here at Hayathnagar on Saturday in support of the countrywide protest 'Chakka Jaam'. CPI, CPM and TJS leaders also took part in the protest in favour of the farmer unions.
In the view of the protest, the police beefed up the security to prevent any untoward incidents. They also removed the protestors on the highway dispersing the crowd which caused a huge traffic jam in the area.
Farmer unions on Monday announced a countrywide 'Chakka Jaam' on February 6 from 12 pm to 3 pm.
Farmers in the country have been protesting since November 26 last year after the central government enacted three new farm laws which are Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020; Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm services act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
