Hyderabad: Irked over the decision of the State Government to extend the term of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), Telangana employees' unions on Wednesday met Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and expressed their displeasure.

Talking to media after the meeting, TNGO leader K Ravinder Reddy said that the Chief Secretary had assured them that there would be no delay in implementation of new pay scales.

He also claimed that Somesh Kumar had told them the PRC report on the enhancement of the wages has been finalised and the commission would submit the report within a month. The chief secretary assured them of the implementation of the new pay scales soon.

He further said they have been assured that the new pay scales would be implemented from March this year.

When asked if that was the case why did the government extend the tenure of the PRC, Reddy said that the chief secretary informed them that the tenure of the PRC was extended to finalise the new service rules.

Telangana Employees' Union leader Padma Chary said that delay in the submission of the report by the PRC sent wrong signals in the state. Employees in all departments were working hard to fulfil the goals set by the government and were expecting pay hike for the last two years.

The union leaders requested the Chief Minister to convene a meeting with all employees' unions to sort out wage hike issue. The union leaders felt the employees will be demoralised if the government did not consider the demands raised in the meetings held with PRC members in the past.
