Children to be given Albendazole capsules

Vikarabad: District Collector Ayesha Masrat Khanam directed the officials of medical and health department to administer Albendazole tablets to all children between 1-19 years of age. She conducted a review meeting with the officials concerned, here at collectorate on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said as part of National Deworming Day on August 8, all the children between 1-19 years of age should be administered the medicine. She told officials to take steps so that all the Anganwadi centres, private and government schools, junior colleges take up this programme.

The Collector also said a meeting with principals and headmasters of private schools should be conducted before the event. The children who missed the medication this time will be administered on August 16. She told them to organise a publicity campaign to create awareness on this medication.

On this occasion she said the rotavirus vaccine, which was recently introduced by the central government will be administered in the district from the second week of August. This vaccine will be given in three phases for the children below one year old.

DMHO Sudhakar, district immunisation officer Dr Sudhakar Shinde, SMO Rajendraprasad, deputy DMHOs Dr Jeevaraju, Dr Radhika Rani, TB Programme officer Dr Lalitha, Dr Saibaba, district welfare officer Pushpalatha, DEO Renukadevi, intermediate nodal officer Shankar, DTDO Kotaji, DSCDO Vidyalaxmi and others were present.
