Patancheru: CITU opposes packages to industrialists

Patancheru: While opposing the packages being given to investors, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on Friday demanded steps to boost the people's purchasing power. The Patancheru mandal committee of the trade union organised a protest rally in IDA Pashamailaramn culminating in a 'rasta roko'.

Addressing the participants, CITU state secretary J Mallikarjun, district secretary K Rajayya criticised the centre for not adequately responding to the current economic status as also industries for dismissing workers in the name of slowdown. They also hit out at union finance minister for offering packages/reliefs to industrialists.

The two leaders wanted the government to increase wages of workers and provide reliefs to them. They pointed out giving packages in western countries did not help them to overcome recession. The CITU leaders alleged that prime minister Narendra Modi's policies would force the country to go bankrupt, posing a threat to the economy.

Among those who took part in the protest included CITU district vice-president P Panduranga Reddy, leaders Wajid Ali, Nageswar Rao, Srinivas Rao, Shankar, Bhagayya, Koti Reddy, V S Raju, Rajeswar Reddy,l Shanta Kumar, Jahangir, Tirupati, Ravinder, Srinivas, Ishak, Chandrayya, Sudhakar.
