Civic workers strike over pending salaries in Karimnagar
Karimnagar: Centre of India Trade Union (CITU) district vice-president Gitla Mukunda Reddy demanded that the government must solve the pending issues of Municipal contract and out-sourcing employees and municipal workers.
He also demanded payment of Rs 24,000 as salary to municipal workers as per 11 PRC and to pay salaries to municipal workers of merged villages that have been in pending for the past six months as per GO No.14.
As per the State-wide bandh call, CITU representatives along with municipal workers staged a dharna in front of the Municipal Corporation in Karimnagar on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, G Mukanda Reddy alleged that the government is showing discrimination towards municipal workers, who are striving hard to keep the cities clean and neat. The government did not sanction their salaries for the past six months. Without salaries, many of them are living in miserable conditions and are unable to meet their daily requirements.

Reddy further alleged that the workers are not provided with chappals, gloves, clothes and jaggery. On several occasions the issue was taken to the notice of the government, which is apparently not in a mood to solve the issue, he criticised.
After several movements lead by the municipal workers, the government had issued GO No.14 keeping in view of the problems of the municipal workers suffering with. But there are no signs of its implementation till date, he criticised.
