CM KCR allows RTC to run buses during night curfew

RTC buses will now be running round-the-clock in the State from Thursday

Hyderabad: The RTC buses will now be running round-the-clock in the State from Thursday as Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday exempted the corporation-run buses during the night curfew (7 pm to 7 am).

Apart from allowing the buses during the night curfew, they would also be allowed at the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station in Imliban. The Chief Minister said that RTC had to suffer huge losses because of few circumstances and when it was about to recover corona came in the way.

Though the corporation was allowed to run buses, because of night curfew all the buses were not operating. The corporation should get Rs 11 crore to Rs 12 crore revenue every day and during the marriage season, revenue goes up to Rs 15 crore. But, because of corona, the corporation could get only Rs 2 crore per day because of the 39 per cent occupancy ratio.

According to the decision taken by the Chief Minister, buses will be allowed even during night curfew. Buses and taxis would also be allowed at the bus stations and the movement of the passengers having tickets would also be allowed. City buses will not be operating as there are corona cases in Hyderabad. Similarly, inter-state buses will also not be operating.
