CM KCR calls potato farmer, enquires about yield

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday interacted with a potato growing farmer from Ranjol village in Zaheerabad constituency in Sangareddy district and enquired about the harvesting pattern.

The CM spoke to Ranjol farmer Nalla Nageshwar Reddy over phone and enquired about the potato crop being cultivated in his farm. The Zaheerabad mandal has red soil and is famous for the potatoes being cultivated for many years. The Chief Minister enquired about the seed types, yield, income from the crop and the extent of area being cultivated.

The farmer said each plant would a kilogram of potatoes. The farmer further said that they get 16 bags (about 15 tonnes) per acre. The price for a 10 kg bag was Rs 200 for white coloured potato, and Rs 180 per a bag of 10kg for red coloured. The crop would be available after 85 days, said Nageshwar Reddy. The CM asked the farmer to meet him.
