CM KCR consoles Colonel's family, hands over Rs 5 cr cheque

Telangana: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday visited Colonel Santosh Babu's residence in Suryapet and consoled the family members. The CM handed over Rs 4 crore cheque, appointment letter of group-1 job and papers of a house site to the martyred army official's wife Santoshi and Rs 1 crore cheque to Santosh Babu's parents. The 711 sq yards of land was allotted near the KBR park in Jubilee Hills.

Rao travelled to Suryapet by road and reached the Colonel's residence around 3.40 pm. He paid floral tributes to the martyr. Santosh Babu's father Upender welcomed the Chief Minister and introduced his family members. The CM enquired about the well-being of Santosh's wife and children and assured all the support. He also assured to allot the house site according to the choice of the Colonel's family.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Ministers G Jagadish Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, MP Santosh Kumar and others.

Colonel Santosh Babu died on June 15 following a fight with the Chinese army at the Galwan Valley. He suffered serious injuries from stones that were hurled by the Chinese troops and succumbed. He was the commanding officer (CO) of the 16 Bihar infantry battalion of the Indian Army.
