CM KCR unveils roadmap for Pattana Pragathi

Hyderabad: After successful implementation of Palle Pragathi, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday laid roadmap for the implementation of Pattana Pragathi programme to be launched on February on 24 in all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

The Chief Minister held a day-long State level Municipal Conference at Pragathi Bhavan and discussed various issues including encroachment on the government lands in municipalities. He said the government will announce schedule for the regularisation of constructions on the government lands as it did last year.

He said that the government is mulling giving another opportunity for the regularisation of constructions on the government lands under GO 58 and 59 in all municipalities.

As part of the road map, the Chief Minister instructed officials to prepare ward-wise plans in every municipality. He asked the authorities to finalise annual and five-year town/city plans to ensure the redressal of all local problems being faced by the people.

Creating street vending zones, special parking places for autos, taxis, and other public transport vehicles, strengthening of accident-free power supply network, preparation of ward-wise plans and annual and five- year town and city plans were among the key initiatives will be taken up under Pattana Pragathi to be launched in all municipalities in the State on February 24.

Collectors, Additional Collectors will prepare the plan in consultation with Councillors and Corporators. The officials will also take opinion from the People's Committees appointed ward-wise. Special officers will be appointed in each ward on a permanent basis and decide the action plan, KCR said while explaining his government's vision to develop the urban bodies as model towns in the future.

He wanted the removal of garbage, clean drainage every day and the town clean and supply safe drinking water daily.

Hassle-free street lighting, roads repairs mainly filling of the potholes, crates and damaged partly or fully roads. Improvement of greenery, creation of dumping yards to clear garbage, cremation and burial grounds for the decent burial or cremation of the dead and establishment of veg and non-veg parks, open playgrounds and gyms for the youth will be taken up to develop Model Towns, the CM said.

Construct public toilets for the use of local residents as well as the floating public will also be given top priority, KCR told officials to utilize the government lands to construct the toilets. The government will give powers to the Collectors to acquire and allocate government land of any department and decide on how many toilets to be constructed and where and complete the task in here months.

Create street vending zones in towns and cities for the benefit of street vendors will help to address the traffic problems in the towns, he added.

Stating that for urban local bodies, government will give Rs 148 crore from the Finance Commission funds per month, KCR said that MPs, MLAs, MLCs should spend their development funds to the town and city development also.

The government decided to arrange 3100 vehicles all over the State for garbage transportation. Already 600 vehicles were pressed into service and the rest will arrive soon.
