Kothagudem: Everyone should work towards making the district an Open Defecation Free (ODF) district, said District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini speaking at a meeting held with the district officials, secretaries, Assistant Project Officers and other staff at the Singareni Women's College in Kothagudem on Thursday.

Speaking at the meeting, he expressed unhappiness over the tardy pace of construction of Individual Household Toilets (IHLs) in the district. He said from February to April, only 12,000 toilets were constructed in the district.

He said every officer should see to it that construction of individual toilets was completed in July. He also hoped the district would get the ODF tag by July-end.

He directed the village level officials to create awareness about the need for individual toilets with the help of Asha workers.

Joint Collector K Venkateswarlu, Trainee Collector Anudeep, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Project Officer P Jagat Kumar Reddy and District Panchayat Officer Ashalatha attended the meeting.
