Collector reviews arrangements for Ganesh Chathurthi festival in Khammam

Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan informed that the people who wanted to set up Ganesh pandals for the upcoming Ganesh Chathurthi festival must take the permission from departments concerned. On Thursday, he conducted a review meeting with the officials of police, revenue, power, health and fire departments in his chambers. Speaking on the occasion, he said, the committees installing the idols and pandals should take permission from the departments concerned.

Stating that the arrangements should not disturb people, the Collector added that every committee should follow the rules and take all necessary measures at the pandals. He appealed to the officials to encourage people install the clay Ganesha idols instead of the ones made of Plaster of Paris and harmful chemicals.

Apart from ordering the Municipal and Panchayat staff to clean and sanitise the roads, and police, revenue and fire departments deploy separate staff for the immersion programme, the Collector directed the Health departments to keep the 108 vehicles stand by at the immersion points to meet any emergencies.

He informed that a control room would be arranged at the Collectorate for monitoring the immersion process. The Collector also added that wine shops remained closed during the immersion programme in the district.

Joint Collector Anurag Jayanthi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Muralidhar Rao, Trainee Collector Sireesha, Khammam Municipal Corporation Commissioner J Srinivas Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police Venkat Rao, Traffic Assistant Commissioner of Police Sada Niranjan, Revenue Divisional Officer Kalluru Division Sivaji, Excise Superintendent Somi Reddy, Fire Officer SK Kareem and other officials attended the meeting.
