Collector reviews security arrangements for Phase 1 Parishad polls
Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan has instructed the officials concerned to work towards conducting smooth and fair elections.
Ahead of the upcoming ZPTC and MPTC first phase elections on May 6, the District Collector along with Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal and Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Priyanka conducted a meeting with police officers, Mandal Parishad Development Officers and District-level nodal officers at the ZP conference hall on Wednesday.
Addressing the officials, the District Collector said that the officials concerned must see to it that the elections are held in a peaceful manner like that of Parliament and gram panchayat elections.
As the election would be conducted using ballot boxes, the District Collector instructed the police officials to stay vigilant and prevent any untoward incidents. "A 100-metre radius protection zone from the polling centre should be established. Heavy protection must be provided while transferring the ballot boxes from polling centres to strongrooms and counting centres. The travel routes must be secured and special care must be taken while transferring the ballot boxes," he said.
Trainee IPS officer Dr Vineeth, Additional DCP Muralidhar Rao, Assistant Collector Hanmanth Kodimba, ACPs Prasanna Kumar, Venkat Rao, Ramoji Ramesh, Satyanarayana and Sadha Niranjan, District-level Nodal officers, MPDOs and others participated in the meeting.
