Charminar: A galore of complaints about piled-up garbage have been pouring in at GHMC (Charminar Zone) office for several days, prompting even the senior officials to personally visit the spots and ensure that the garbage waste is cleared.

Latest amongst the garbage accumulation points, which were pointed out by the residents, include Sharada School Road at Aliabad near Falaknuma, Venkateshwara temple road, Phoolbagh in Shalibanda division, Patthar ki Dargah, abd Laldarwaza road at Falaknuma under South Zone.

Besides this, complaints have also been reported from Devdi Iqbal Ud Daula, Shahgunj and Syed Ali Chabutra near Shah Ghouse hotel in the recent days. The piled-up garbage is not only causing inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists, but also posing health hazard, particularly in view of the uncontrollable seasonal fevers. It is being alleged that it was reflecting negligent behaviour of GHMC staff and local corporators.

BJYM leader Ponna Venkat Ramana held that most of the areas had been reeling under this apathy for the past four days and the garbage collection points had become dumping yards. He alleged that every month the situation remains the same for several days and blamed Minister K Taraka Rama Rao for the plight of people.

He pointed out that even though funds were being sanctioned by the GHMC, no developmental activities were being taken up in Old City. The playgrounds which should have been developed were being turned into dumping yards.
