Congerss in fix over Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy issue

Hyderabad: Munugodu MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy's confusion over his political future has put the Congress in a fix as it is unable to decide on action to be taken on him.

The Congress which wanted to take action on him for his adverse remarks on the party has held back the decision and is instead closely monitoring the MLAs moves. This attitude of the party has come under criticism from the seniors.

MLA Rajagopal Reddy has criticised the Congress again recently prompting the party to take disciplinary action on him. The Disciplinary Committee of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has issued show cause notice to him.

In his reply the MLA continued his tirade against the party raising the hackles of the members of the Disciplinary Committee. But they were unable to take action on him as the party did not want such measures.

The Disciplinary Committee has sent a report to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) making its recommendations. So far, the AICC has not responded on the report preventing the TPCC from going further.

According to party leaders Rajagopal Reddy is confused over his political future, whether to join the Bharatiya Janata Party or continue with the Congress. They said though the MLA wanted to join the BJP, green signal was not given by that party's high command.

As he could not see any prospects for the Congress in the State and the BJP not opening his doors for him, Rajagopal Reddy is in confusion. This was seen in his behaviour during the recent special session of the Assembly. During the Assembly sessions, Rajagopal Reddy stayed away from the meetings of the Congress Legislature Party and from party activity in the Assembly. He was warned against by Telangana Rashtra Samithi member on joining the BJP.

The Congress leaders are of the view that the MLA did not have any other recourse than continuing in the Congress and this has forced the party to hold back the action against him for his remarks on the party.

However, the Congress seniors have seriously opposed the party's stand on Rajagopal Reddy. AICC secretary V Hanumantha Rao questioned the party's silence on Munugodu MLA's issue.

He criticised that while the party was ready to take action on BC and SC leaders promptly for anti-party activities, the same enthusiasm was not seen in the case of Rajagopal Reddy and other leaders from the upper castes.
