Congress alleges violation of model code by government
Hyderabad: The Congress party on Friday has alleged that violation of Model Code of Conduct has been taking place in the State and urged the State Election Commission to take action against the violators.
Submitting a memorandum to Commissioner of SEC V Nagi Reddy, convener of PCC Election Commission Coordination Committee G Niranjan said that the State government violated the MCC by launching the Kaleswaram project.
He said that the officials of State government have launched the second pump of Kaleswaram project at Nandimedaram of Dharmaram mandal of Peddapalli District.
Higher officials including Smita Sabarwal, Devasena and collector of the district have participated in it.
The programme was widely covered in the media along with appreciation of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and working president of TRS KT Rama Rao to influence the voters.
As per the Section 8-D of Model Code of Conduct not only the ministers but the authorities also should not launch any such programmes during the election period.
He said that on the other hand the State government released Rs 436 crore for monthly Aasara pensions to transfer to the accounts of beneficiaries in the first week of May, 2019 to influence the voters.
