Congress alliance with Shiv Sena evokes positive response in TS
Hyderabad: Formation of government in Maharashtra by the Congress in alliance with right wing Siva Sena has evoked positive response in the Telangana unit of the party as leaders feel that it was done under unavoidable circumstances.
Party leaders feel that the Congress has allied with the Siva Sena to keep BJP away from the government. They said that it was correct for the Congress to ally with Siva Sena to form the government to teach a lesson to the BJP.
Speaking to The Hans India, official spokesperson of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Nizamuddin said that the decision was taken under unavoidable circumstances. He said that the Congress allied with Sena and NCP as they have the majority in the Assembly.
He said that the Maharashtra Governor acted in an unethical way by giving opportunity to the BJP to form the government though it did not have majority. He said that Congress has allied with Sena to serve the people.
Ever since the Nationalist Congress Party has taken initiative to form the government in Maharashtra in alliance with Congress and Siva Sena, lot of discussion has taken place in Telangana Congress.
Several leaders of the State unit felt that as Telangana is a communally sensitive State and is fighting the communal forces in the State, having alliance with Siva Sena would damage its secular foundations. Party leaders wondered how the Congress, which is a secular organisation, could ally with the Siva Sena which has Hindutva as its main agenda. Several leaders said that it would not be advisable for Congress to ally with Sena.
However, they changed their opinion soon after Maharashtra Governor invited the BJP to form government. Formation of government through the midnight coup has raised the hackles of the Telangana Congress leaders.
Now they say that Congress could have alliance with anyone to keep the BJP away from the power which has been troubling the party at every level. A Muslim leader of Congress said that the Muslims of Telangana would not mind having alliance with Siva Sena in Maharashtra. He said that this would have nothing to do with politics of Telangana.
