Hyderabad: Telangana Congress on Friday strongly condemned carvings of pictures of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and TRS party electoral symbol car on pillars of Yadadri Temple.

Party MPs A Revanth Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, PCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy, former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, party secretary G Niranjan and others have strongly condemned the government's action.

Addressing the media, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been trying to portray himself as a 'Demi God' of Telangana State.

Narayana Reddy informed that Chandrashekar Rao was getting his picture inscribed on the pillars of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadagirigutta.

"This is highly condemnable as the expansion of Yadadri Temple is being done with public money and not with the personal wallet of K Chandrashekar Rao. He must realise that he is just a public representative and not a king. No one can tamper with the sanctity of temples and equate themselves with Gods," he said.

Gudur Narayana Reddy said a few pillars in the temple were reportedly having the inscriptions depicting the culture of Telangana like Bathukamma, a farmer with a plough and obsolete coins of Two, Three, Five and 25 paisa.

However, the Ambassador Car, the election symbol of TRS, is also being inscribed on temple's pillars.

In a statement MP A Revanth Reddy said that in the past centuries no individual or ruler's pictures were etched on the sculptures of temples. Pictures depicting history of those times, lifestyles and morals have been inscribed.

He said that in Yadadri Temple, which is revered by crores of people, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's picture, and TRS party's electoral symbol car have been etched.

He said that this has damaged the sentiments of the Hindus. By giving place to politics the sentiments of the devotees of Yadadri temple were damaged. He said that the objectives of Telangana movement were ignored.

Revanth said that this act has taken dictatorial attitude of the Chief Minister to the peak. Monarchy has taken place in Telangana which was achieved with the sacrifices of many.

He said that the psycho fancy of TRS leaders have reached its peak with this action. Even the TRS leaders and workers have gone to the extent of blemishing the holy place.

MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that it was shameful to get pictures of the Chief Minister etched on the sculptures of Yadadri Temple. He alleged that the Chief Minister has damaged the sentiments of the devotees.
