Congress declares Padmavathi Reddy as MLA candidate for Huzurnagar byelection
Hyderabad: The byelection for Huzurnagar Assembly constituency is intensifying the political heat in Telangana. The ruling TRS party has already announced its candidate and getting ready for the campaign.
In this context, the Congress party has also declared Huzurnagar candidate. The AICC president Sonia Gandhi has finalized the name of PCC chief and Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar Reddy's wife Padmavathi Reddy as its candidate.
Over this, the Congress party has made an official announcement on Tuesday. Uttam's wife Padmavathi Reddy contested from Kodad Assembly segment and lost to TRS in 2018 elections.
In 2014 elections, she won from same Assembly constituency and served as MLA. TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy who won from Huzurnagar in 2018 elections. Later, he won as Nalgonda MP in the Parliament elections. His resignation to MLA post has resulted in the byelection in Huzurnagar Assembly constituency.
For this by-election, the TRS party has announced S Saidi Reddy as the candidate much ahead of other parties. Saidi Reddy has already received the B-from from the hands of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
The BJP has also finalized Srikala Reddy as its candidate. On the other side, TRS working president KTR has participated in several meetings supporting Saidi Reddy.
The opposition Congress is insistent on retaining its sitting MLA seat. The saffron party which claims to be an alternative to the TRS is getting ready to give a shock to TRS and Congress just like Lok Sabha elections.
As the candidates of the major parties have been finalized, the election campaign will pick up to its full phase in Huzurnagar.
