Congress demands allotment of land to Navy for radar station at Podur

Hyderabad: The Congress party has demanded that the government hand over the land to the Navy for establishing 'Low Frequency Radar Station' at Pudur in Vikarabad district.

Party leaders T Rammohan Reddy, K Visweswar Reddy, B Yadava Reddy and G Prasad Kumar said the government had been delaying handing over of land to Navy to establish a institution of national importance.

Addressing the media, Rammohan Reddy said the Indian Navy had proposed to establish LFRS at Pudur and sought 2,900 acres from the State. He said the LFRS would help the submarines in the oceans to receive messages from Prime Minister and Defence Minister offices.

He said that the Navy has taken all the permissions from various departments to establish the institution. Three years ago the state government had given an order allocating the land.
