Congress fears TS may go Venezuela way: Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka

Hyderabad: Leader of Congress in Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said that Telangana may turn into another Venezuela if the worst performance of Telangana Rashtra Samithi government is any indication.

Addressing the media, along with MLA D Sridhar Babu, he said that the first-year rule of the second term of TRS has been worrying all. The State has a dubious distinction of presenting vote on account budget for six months.

He said when the Congress has predicted that State would go bankrupt with the financial policies of the TRS government all have heckled them. But it has come true in the past one year. Proving the claims of the Congress to be true on financial mess up, the Chief Minister now has been taking austerity measures. Several students of Intermediate have committed suicides during the TRS government never like in the past.

He said that the RTC employees have gone for strike and about 30 have lost their lives. The government raised the fares of RTC buses and imposed a burden of Rs 1,000 crore on the people. Vikramarka alleged that all the recruitments into government services have been stopped and there is no word on issuing notifications for the recruitment into Group -1 and Group – 2 services.

The CLP leader said that the TRS government has not been executing the irrigation projects being conceived by the previous governments. Without completing the existing projects, it has been announcing new ones.

"Whenever, TRS requires money, the government announces new projects. The irrigation projects have been meant to benefit the contractors," he alleged. He said that the government is planning to borrow more while already the state is burdened with Rs 3 lakh crore debt.

Vikramarka alleged that the government turned Telangana into boozers' state as it has opened liquor shops in number of places. The revenue to the liquor sales has risen to Rs 20,000 crore from Rs 11,000 crore.

MLA Sridhar Babu said that the Gram Panchayats and local bodies have been deprived of funds. As soon as the Centre gives funds, the power bill amounts are deducted from the GP accounts.

He said that the tractors scheme has become a big burden on the panchayats. The funds to be given by the state government were not sanctioned. The new sarpanches have been discouraged.
