Ramagundam: Party leaders and cadre should prepare well to face the coming up corporation elections, said MS Raj Tagore, the Congress in-charge of Ramagundam constituency.

He presided over a preparatory meeting to face the corporation elections with Congress leaders and cadre at a private functional hall in Ramagundam on Monday. Addressing the gathering, Raj Tagore said that Sonia Gandhi of Congress gave separate Statehood status to Telangana. But, the TRS leaders with their mesmerising words cheated the people of Telangana and enjoying the power.

Now the people are not in a stage to believe the ruling TRS and Ramagundam people taught a fitting lesson to the TRS in the recently held Parliament elections. Congress Parliament candidate got 2,000 votes more than those TRS candidate got in Ramagundam Assembly constituency, he said.

The Congress leaders and cadre must strive hard to win maximum number of seats in corporation elections, which will be in the coming up days, Tagore said. The Congress is ready to fight to prevent open casting (OC) of Singareni coal mines. If the OC are sanctioned, then the entire area will turn into pits.

Congress leaders will stage dharnas at all the places where the government is trying to convert Singareni coal mines into OCs and will prevent it. The people also must support the Congress in that movement, he appealed.
