Hyderabad: The Congress party on Tuesday made it clear that it would strongly oppose the proposal to give powers of Collectors to Ministers.

Addressing the media, former minister DK Samarasimha Reddy and former MP Mallu Ravi said that the law would not agree to the changes in the administration at the whims and fancies of the Chief Minister and Ministers.

The Chief Minister wants to run the State through dummy Ministers after giving all powers to them. The Congress leaders declared that the party would not keep quiet if the Chief Minister wants to run the administration as he wishes.

The IAS officers should respond to this situation. By merging the Revenue department with the Panchayat Raj department, political activities would be encouraged in the villages.

The Congress leaders said that it was shameful on part of the Chief Minister to speak on corruption and wanted to know as to how he has realized about corruption in Revenue department after five years of rule.

They alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to win the elections to Zilla Parishads and Mandal Parishads by cheating the people.

They said that the people would teach a lesson to the Chief Minister in the upcoming elections.

'Silent voting' in favour of Congress has taken place in Parliament elections and this would ensure more number of seats to the party, they claimed.
