Mahbubnagar: Taking the lead in the announcement of candidates for the Parliament elections, the Congress party has declared Dr Mallu Ravi, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president and Vamshi Chand Reddy, former Kalwakurthy MLA, as the contesting candidates for Nagarkurnool and Mahbubnagar Parliament constituencies, respectively.

It can be recalled that during the Assembly elections, Telangana Rashtra Samithi had taken a lead in announcing its candidates and plunged into election campaign before any party could do it. The Congress had delayed its list of candidates to the Assembly and because of which, it had to face the ire of the people in the elections.

However, this time, the Congress party has learnt from its mistake and announced its list of candidates for the Lok Sabha early. On the other hand, the TRS seems to have been in the wait and watch mode.

Though the TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao had not dropped any hints of who would be the probable candidates from the party to fight the upcoming Parliament elections from Mahbubnagar and Nagarkurnool, there are speculations that the sitting candidate Jitender Reddy, MP from Mahbubnagar, might have to face a backlash of the TRS boss, as there are rumours flying high that KCR might give chance to a new face for Mahbubnagar Parliament constituency.

It is further learnt that P Ramulu, senior TRS leader might be given a chance to fight for the Nagarkurnool Parliament seat. "Declaring candidates early will give an edge for any party. Unlike the Assembly elections, the Congress has taken a wise decision of announcing its candidates early. The TRS on the other hand is committing the same mistake of Congress in the Assembly elections.

It is better the party announces its candidates early and then go on full fledge campaigning. This would give people a chance to study the candidates better and finally take a decision to vote for a better candidate," said Srikanth, a political analyst from Mahbubnagar district.
