Congress plans to build party offices in all districts

Hyderabad: Though the Telangana Congress received a severe drubbing in the previous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the party is getting ready to compete with the TRS in the construction of party offices.

On the lines of the ruling party, Telangana Congress is planning to open permanent party offices in all districts soon. The core committee meeting of the PCC which held recently has taken a decision in this regard.

The responsibility of coordinating the construction of office buildings has been entrusted to PCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar.

The DCCs have been directed to submit memorandums to the district collectors, seeking land for the construction of party office buildings in the headquarters.

The Congress is yet to have its own office buildings in the newly formed districts. The party appointed committees to the district units for completion of process by the end of this year.

Wherever there are no DCCs, the senior leaders of the districts have been told to pursue the matter with the collectors.

However, the party is facing paucity of funds to construct buildings to the DCCs even if it is provided with the lands by the government at concessional rates. The PCC has been mulling on the options to pool up the money required to build the offices.

According to party leaders, the TPCC is facing dearth of funds to meet day-to-day affairs of the party. The responsibility of providing the funds has been entrusted to one or two leaders at the state level and they have been facing problems in procuring the money.

As the party did not have any permanent source to generate income, it has been depending on the leaders, who have financial resources to provide funds for the organisational affairs and activities.

The leaders said that even the All India Congress Committee is facing shortage of funds and it has been collecting donations from leaders across the country.

The PCC may have to follow similar procedure to generate funds in the State, they said.
