Hyderabad: Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday said that a big meeting would be organised in Delhi in December against the economic policies of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

He revealed this at a media conference at Gandhi Bhavan. He said that the Congress has been conducting press conferences in the entire country over the skewed economic policies of the Centre at State capitals and at district headquarters.

Azad alleged that the NDA government at the Centre has ruined the economy of the country. He stated that according to National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO), the unemployment in the country was at 8.19 per cent.

According to International Labour Organisation (ILO), the average unemployment all over the world was 4.5 per cent, meaning that India has two times more unemployment than the other nations. These numbers were suppressed during Lok Sabha elections.

He mentioned that the NDA government has been fudging the numbers of the growth rate of the GDP. During the Congress government period, the growth rate was 10 per cent.

it was 8.5 per cent and after six years rule it has gone down to 4.5 per cent. In fact, the Central government has fudged the numbers of the growth rate and it claimed that it was 13 per cent which was 5 per cent more than the real one. If this is considered the growth rate could be 0.5 per cent now.

He said that due to the demonitisation and flawed implementation of the GST, the tax collection has dropped to 74 per cent. He said that during the Congress regime India was at fifth position in terms of economy and that position has dropped to seven now.

As far as the banking sector was concerned, the size of the NPAs have reached to Rs 8.5 lakh crores and 25,000 bank frauds have been registered.

The government did not pass on the benefit of the reduction of prices of crude oil in the international market to the people and has got Rs 13 lakh crores through petrol and diesel.

The Central government has taken away Rs 4 lakh crores from the RBI in the past six years. It has failed to give MSP to the farmers as promised and the farmers have been selling their produce between 8 to 37 per cent less of Minimum Support Price (MSP).

In India, there was no tax on the agriculture, but the NDA government imposed five per cent tax on the fertilisers, 18 per cent tax on the tractors and 12 per cent on the pesticides, he added.
