Congress slams TRS for planning to construct parallel reservoir to Jurala project

Gadwal: Taking on the TRS government's move to construct a parallel reservoir adjacent to Jurala project, senior Congress leader from Gadwal DK Samarashimha Reddy said that the TRS government was misleading the people of Gadwal by unnecessarily conducting false surveys for new projects.

Speaking to the media, Reddy said, "The State governments move to conduct a recent survey by retired engineers in Gadwal to construct a new parallel project to Jurala is nothing but a gimmick of this government to divert the attention of people from pressing issues. Moreover, when already the government is taking up very large projects like PRRLI, what is the need for it to think about a parallel project for Jurala, its nothing but to mint money under the guise of a project," alleged the Former Minister.

It is said that the government was planning to construct a parallel project to the existing Jurala project, because the present capacity of Jurala project was only 11 tmcft.

As during this rainy season, the project authorities unable to stock the water in the project had to release excess water downstream to avoid any damage to the dam. Now, the State government is planning to increase the storage capacity of Jurala dam by constructing a parallel reservoir to store the water and reduce the burden on Jurala project.

As part of this, recently a team of retired engineers including Shyam Prasad Reddy, Venkatrama Rao, Anantha Ramulu, Khagender and Superintending Engineer of Jurala project Raghunadha Rao visited the areas of Dharur mandal such as Nagardoddi, Guddem Doddi, Dyaga Doddi villages and took stock of the area suitable for construction of a parallel reservoir to the project and increase its capacity on Krishna river.
