Congress team to visit Tummidihatti
Hyderabad: Demanding that the government construct barrage at Tummidihatti and revive Pranahita – Chevella project, the Congress decided to visit Tummidihatti on Monday.
A team of Congress leaders led by TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, including MLC T Jeevan Reddy, working president Kusuma Kumar, MPs A Revanth Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, senior leader Shabbir Ali, former PCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah, former leader of opposition K Jana Reddy, and others would visit Tummidihatti.
In a statement, MLC Jeevan Reddy said the Pranahita – Chevella Project has been designed to irrigate about 16 lakh acres in seven old districts.
WAPCOS has said that there was 160 TMC water available at Tummidihatti with a barrage height of 152 meters.
Under the project a gravity canal has been designed from Tummidihatti to Mylaram with a length of 70 kilometres. From here with less cost, water could be lifted to Yellampalli project.
He alleged that the government is trying to give contract works for one more lift to the existing work agency on nomination basis which is against the rules.
