Congress to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day on September 17
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the party would celebrate Telangana Liberation Day on September 17.
Addressing the joining of former police inspector D Bhumaiah into the party on Friday he said all the District Congress Committees have been instructed to hoist the national flag on that day. The national flag would be hoisted at Gandhi Bhavan also.
He said that the executive committee meeting of the TPCC would be held on September 17 evening.
He said that all the important leaders would be invited to it and they would be explained about the decisions taken at the AICC meeting at Delhi which was held on September 12 and 13.
Uttam said party president Sonia Gandhi has instructed all the PCCs to take up nationwide membership drive.
Uttam said that training camps would be organised at State and district levels. He informed that Sonia Gandhi instructed party to work notwithstanding the elections for the people.
He said that the 150th birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi would be held on October 2. He said several programmes would be held in connection with the birth anniversary celebrations.
The TPCC president said that a general body meeting of the TPCC would be held soon to discuss the economic downturn in the country. He said that several eminent economists of the State would be invited to talk on the issue.
Uttam said that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his address to the AICC meeting blamed the NDA government at the Centre for the recession in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been indulging in vengeful politics than addressing the issues of the nation, Uttam said.
He said that lives of crores of people have been affected with current recession. Job opportunities have been lost. He criticised that false cases have been imposed on the leaders of the Congress.
