Congress to move court against government's decision

Hyderabad: Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday said that 'Intintiki Congress Jenda Panduga' programme would be extended by a week.

Speaking informally with the media, he said that they have been preparing the party cadre to face the ensuing municipal elections. He said that they would challenge the decision of the government to give overriding powers to collectors over the Urban Local Bodies in the court.

He criticised that the decision to give more powers to collectors on the affairs of ULBs was an example of arrogance of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

Questioning the government's decision to remove the sarpanches from the posts if they fail to make Haritha Haram a success, he wanted to know as to whether the Chief Minister or ministers have resigned for the failure of the programme in the past.

He said that support of TRS to the amendment to Right to Information Act shows the nexus between that party and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He alleged that the BJP has been turning the country into a Police Raj. He criticised that BJP and TRS have been indulging in bogus fight.

Speaking on the joining of former MP G Vivek in Congress, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that he do not know about the intentions of the former MP.

He said that he met Vivek as an old friend. He made it clear that Congress was the only alternative to TRS in the state and exuded confidence that they would return to power in the next elections. He said that BJP was an urban party and its swelling strength was a creation of the media.

Earlier addressing the media, he said that they have lost a good friend with the death of former minister M Mukesh Goud. He said that the party would be with the family of Mukesh.

MLA Sridhar Babu said that the Municipal Act has been prepared against the articles of the Constitution. He said that even the ordinance issued by the government was against the spirit of Constitution.
