Congress, TRS playing down BJP's victory in polls: Laxman
Hyderabad: State BJP president K Laxman on Tuesday criticised the TRS and Congress for belittling the victory of four party candidates in Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing the media here, he said, "both the parties are belittling the BJP winning in four Lok Sabha constituencies. It amounted to insulting the people's verdict."
He said any movement started from north Telangana would always spread across the State. BJP winning in north Telangana.
Defeating Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's daughter and the right hand of the TRS chief was only a beginning for the BJP to expand across the State, he said.
Prior to the elections, the TRS chief claimed there was no 'Modi Hawa' in the State.
But now he changed his statement and attributed the party loss in general elections to the Modi wave. Cutting across the party lines people had voted for the BJP.
But it seemed KCR and KTR were not able to reconcile themselves to the poll debacle and trying to portray the party in poor light.
He said that the BJP had a voting share of 37 per cent which is highest among all the parties in the State.
The TRS Parliament party leader in the last Lok Sabha had joined the party for not able to tolerate the family-rule in the TRS.
Referring to the saffron party chief Amit Shah saying that his party has crossed the 300-mark with the four seats won from Telangana.
It was only a beginning for the party in Telangana and the future in the State belongs to the party to emerge a strong alternative for the TRS.
Terming Congress a rudderless boat in the State, Laxman said that none other than the Congress president Rahul Gandhi had decided to step down and thus leave it orphaned.
The Congress had drawn blank in 17 states and won one MP each in six States.
