Congressmen told to brace up for municipal polls
Hyderabad: The core committee of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee met on Sunday evening and discussed the ensuing municipal elections and other issues.
Party state affairs incharge RC Khuntia, PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and other leaders participated in the meeting. The meeting urged AICC president Rahul Gandhi to withdraw his resignation.
The meeting felt that leadership of Rahul Gandhi was needed for the country and to the party. Khuntia and Uttam wanted Rahul to continue as president of the AICC.
The core committee discussed the ensuing municipal elections and finalised the strategy for them.
A committee has been set up for the municipal polls which would be headed by working president Ponnam Prabhakar. The committee includes AICC secretaries SA Sampath and Vamsichand Reddy.
In the meeting it has been decided to appoint incharges for the Assembly constituency committees. Incharges for the 140 municipalities would also be appointed.
The meeting of executive committee members, DCC presidents and AICC incharges would be held on June 29 at Nagarjuna Sagar.
It has been decided to take up enrollment of BC voters in the municipalities. The core committee demanded for 34 per cent reservations to the BCs in the municipalities.
