Contract municipal workers stir enters day 2 in Khammam

Khammam: The protest by the municipal contract workers continued on Friday with many of the workers protesting by kneeling down in front of Khammam municipal office demanding the officials to solve their issues. On the second day, the workers took out protest rallies in all municipalities in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders of the workers demanded the government to solve their issues immediately. They added that contract workers have been working for the last many years for meagre salaries and it was the time the government recognise the services rendered by the contract staff and enhance their salaries to Rs 24,000 a month. The CPM, CPI and Congress parties also extended their support to the workers on the day.
