Cop held for sexual assault of 12-year-old in Hyderabad

A constable was arrested on Thursday for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in the Hyderabad. The accused was identified as VS Umesh. The incident took place two months ago but came to light on Thursday after the family of the girl filed a complaint.

Getting into details, VS Umesh resides on the first floor of the building in which the victim and her family lived. The accused lured the girl to his house when she was alone at home and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The girl posted the matter to her mother who approached the police and lodged a complaint against the accused. The police arrested the accused and sent him to jail. Meanwhile, the girl was sent to Bharosa centre to record her statement.

Reacting to the incident, Rachakonda commissioner of police Anjani Kumar took to Twitter and said, "None is above law. We had to arrest a Constable of Ramgopalpet who molested a girl.
