Cops foil NSUI bid to lay siege to Assembly
Hyderabad: The activists of Congress party's student wing NSUI on Saturday made an attempt to lay a siege to State Assembly protesting against the negligent attitude of the State government towards the suicides of Intermediate students.
Police swung into action and took the students into preventive custody and remanded them at different police stations in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, NSUI State president Venkat Balmoori said they hoped that the issue of the suicides of the Intermediate students would come up for discussion in the Assembly and a clarity would emerge on the issue in the House. But the government exhibited callous attitude on the particular issue.
Alleging that the government also failed to come to the rescue of students, who committed suicide, Balmoori demanded that the government pay Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore to the family members of the victims as compensation.
