Cops step up probe into Kodela's suicide

Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills Police has intensified its probe into former Andhra Pradesh Speaker Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao's suicide case.

On Monday immediately after the incident, Clues team and technical teams consisting forensic and fingerprints have collected evidences from Kodela's bedroom and other premises of his house.

The teams already questioned gunman, maids, drivers and watchman and recorded their statements and cross checked it with the version of his family members.

After receiving the primary report of postmortem from Osmania Hospital Forensic doctors, which stated that Kodela committed suicide, police took up investigation in all other angles to unravel what led to the suicide.

As they did not find any suicide letter in Kodela's bedroom and in his house premises, they are mainly focusing on his phone call data.

Specifically, they are focusing on phone call data on Sunday and Monday, after reportedly finding Kodela spoke on phone for more than 20 minutes with a person before committing suicide.

Senior police officer said after tracing that person they plan on questioning him and cross check it with other evidence.

According to rumours Kodela's phone went missing from his house and was found switched off after evening hours on Monday. However, N Kalinga Rao, SHO, Banjara Hills Police Station denied the rumours and further clarified that the phone is with his family members.

Police are waiting for the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report to further move ahead in their investigation.
